CoolSculpting Malaysia | How does Cryolipolysis works?

Years ago, scientists at Harvard University observed that some children who ate popsicles got dimples in their cheeks, The scientist – Dieter Manstein, MD, and R. Rox Anderson, MD – realized that the popsicles were freezing and eliminating small pockets of fat cells. This observation sparks the idea that cold can target fat cells – without damaging the skin or surrounding tissue. It is this theory which cryoliposis procedure is based.

Cryolipolysis procedure delivers precisely controlled cooling to gently and effectively target the fat cells underneath the skin. Treated fat cells are crystalized (frozen) and then undergo a process of cell apoptosis (cell death). Over time, your body naturally processes these death fat cells and eliminates them from the body.

CoolSculpting Malaysia | Fat Reduction vs Weight Loss?

Is losing weight similar to losing fat? The answer to this is NO.

According to The Fat Cell Theory; we stop producing more fat cells when we finish growing. This means that the number of fat cells in our bodies typically becomes fixed sometime in our teenage years when we completed our growing stage of life. Adults who were leaner as children will have fewer fat cells to expand than those who were overfed during the crucial fat-cell-growth years.

When adults gain weight, their fat cells simply grow in size rather then numbers. Regular dieting and exercising regime typically reduces the size of these fat cells resulting in a general weight loss. However, it does not make the fat cells go away. Hence once you stop your regular dieting and exercise regimes, your weight simply just bounce back.

Cryolipolysis on the other hand actually reduces the number of fat cells in treated areas, up to 25% per treatment. Because of the reduction in fat cells, the tendency of gaining back the bulge at the treated area is smaller compared to conventional diet and exercise. After Cryolipolysis, you may not experience significant weight reduction, however, you should be able to see your stubborn fat bulges start to disappear, leaving a more sculpted and leaner you. Your clothes will fit better too.
